Dear DEAW Parents:

Unfortunately, school will be closed on Thursday, April 19, 2018 as the cleaning and disinfecting of the lower level of the elementary wing concludes. Today's half day dismissal wasn't an easy decision and based on an unexpected issue we encountered in the flooded area of the building.

For the month of April, our focus of topic will be on homework. For this week, our Instructional Supervisor Ms. Hetzel has provided us with 5 homework strategies that could better help our students achieve.

Good morning Parents,

The safety and well being of David Ellis Academy West students and staff is of utmost importance. Due to unexpected issues resulting from the flooding in the lower level of the elementary wing, the decision has been made to dismiss school today promptly at 11:30 a.m.

I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this may cause but we have to ensure we provide our students and staff with a safe learning environment.

As of this writing, the Academy is still without power. We have not received a power restoration time from DTE but we'll keep you updated as information becomes available to us. Please be reminded students should log into their Education City, Study Island, Raz-Kids and Khan Academy accounts.

Greetings DEAW Families,

Due to widespread power outages, school will be closed Monday, April 16, 2018 for all students and staff.

It’s unlikely power will be restored until sometime tomorrow therefore, we wanted to give parents and staff ample notice of our closure.
