Greetings David Ellis Academy West Families!

I am honored by the opportunity to share my passion and educational journey with you.  My name is Maria Green, and I am overjoyed to present myself in written form. I am a third-generation educator. My mother and grandmother will be my forever favorite teachers who impacted my life tremendously.  I am an Alumni of the University of Michigan-Dearborn and the University of Michigan-Flint. Serving the educational community is inherited and I majored in Elementary Education and obtained a Masters in Public School Administration for Kindergarten-12th grade . Upon completion of my bachelor’s degree, I became a published children’s book author of the book, Freckled Face Zina. My focus is to bring multicultural awareness and to advocate against bullying through children’s literature. I am honored to serve my local and spiritual church community. It is my deepest passion and purpose to exemplify philanthropy by empowering young scholars.

As I currently serve as the Principal of Curriculum and Instruction at David Ellis Academy West,  over 25 years ago, I was a student at this same distinguished Academy. Now I have the honor to give back by leading in the same place that gave me my elementary foundation and love for learning. My role is to be a dedicated administrator who is responsible for helping teachers and scholars realize their full potential.  It is imperative that I maintain working knowledge of effective instructional strategies and understand the needs of all of our students and teachers.  I ensure that all students receive equity in education, all students' success is my own success.  I am eager to give and meet every expectation as the Principal of DEAW without hesitation. I am a reliable, loving, high energy, driven, passionate leader. I love working collaboratively under the great leadership of our Chief Operations Officer, Tyron Hurd. I am committed to launching school wide initiatives to create impactful instruction to change the educational lives of our students.

The joy of my life is being the wife to the greatest husband, Mr. Dominique Green Sr. My favorite role is mothering my two beautiful children Dominique Jr. and Ahmirah Green. Spending time with my family is my daily dose of happiness. I am also a  proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated.

This is a season of opportunity , a season to restart, reimagine, soar and succeed. Partnership is powerful, and we are committed to partnering with you for the success of your child.

Excellence in Education,

Principal Green
